Attendance Calculator

Find your attendance percentage, how many classes you can miss or need to attend to stay above 75% (or any minimum), track each subject, and plan the rest of the term day by day.

Runs in your browser Free · no sign-up

At a glance

  • Attendance % = classes attended ÷ classes held × 100. The calculator gives the exact number of classes to attend in a row to reach your minimum, or how many you can miss and stay at it.
  • At 75%, each class you miss has to be balanced by three you attend: 30 of 50 (60%) needs 30 more in a row, while 45 of 50 (90%) can miss 10.
  • Works with any minimum – 75% (CBSE board exams and many colleges), 70% per subject (law, under the BCI rules), 75% theory and 80% practical (MBBS) – using exact whole-number arithmetic, so 75% of 40 is exactly 30.
  • An option for colleges that round to the nearest whole percent, where 74.5% counts as 75%.
  • Counts approved medical, duty or OD leave as present if your college does, and with the classes left this term says how many you must attend – or that the minimum can no longer be reached.
  • Subject-wise tracker with one-tap Present and Absent buttons and Undo, the overall percentage, the subjects below the minimum and a CSV download.
  • Term planner: enter classes per weekday, holidays and the last day of classes, then tick the days you plan to miss to see your percentage after every day. Everything is saved in your browser only.

Step by step

How to calculate attendance and the classes you can skip

  1. 1

    Set your minimum

Type your college’s requirement or tap 75%, 80% and so on. Choose Rounded % if your college rounds to whole percent.

  2. 2

    Enter your classes

On Calculator, type the classes held and attended (or missed). Add leave counted as present and the classes left this term if you know them.

  3. 3

    Read the answer

See your percentage, how many classes you can miss or must attend in a row, and the what-if table.

  4. 4

    Track each subject

On Subjects, enter each subject’s numbers once, then tap Present or Absent after every class.

  5. 5

    Plan the term

On Term planner, fill in your weekly timetable, holidays and the last day of classes, and tick the days you plan to miss.

Features

Everything you need, nothing you don’t

The answer students want

“You can miss the next 4 classes” or “Attend the next 12 in a row” – with the percentage before and after, and the working.

Every subject at a glance

One row per subject with its percentage, a bar against your minimum and what it allows, plus the overall figure most colleges also check.

Tap after each class

Present and Absent buttons keep the numbers current without retyping them; Undo fixes a wrong tap.

Plan the whole term

From your timetable and holidays it lists every class day left, so you can see which days you can afford to miss – and which you cannot.

Any rule

Set 60, 75, 80, 85% or any figure, and choose exact or rounded comparison to match your college’s handbook.

Private

Attendance formulas

Attendance % = attended ÷ held × 100. To find how many classes you must attend in a row to reach a minimum p (as a fraction, 75% = 0.75), solve (attended + x) ÷ (held + x) ≥ p, which gives x ≥ (p × held − attended) ÷ (1 − p), rounded up.

To find how many you can miss and still have p, solve attended ÷ (held + y) ≥ p, which gives y ≤ attended ÷ p − held, rounded down.

How many classes can I miss?

The minimum decides how many classes you must attend for every one you miss. Over a whole term this is the largest share of classes you can miss:

MinimumAttend for every class missedMost you can miss
60%1.540% of classes
65%1.8635% of classes
70%2.3330% of classes

80%420% – 1 in 5
85%5.6715% of classes
90%910% – 1 in 10

Attendance rules you may meet

Colleges and universities set their own rules on top of these, often per subject and overall, and some count labs as two or more periods. Check your handbook – and count periods the same way it does.

WhereRule
CBSE Class 10 and 1275% to sit the board exams (Examination Bye-Laws); shortages of up to 25% can be condoned for medical emergencies, national or international sport and other serious reasons, with documents
MBBS in India (NMC)75% in theory and 80% in practical and clinical training
Law degrees in India (BCI)70% in each subject; a college may condone down to 65% in a subject if the overall attendance is 70%
Schools in the United Statesmissing 10% or more of school days, excused or not, is “chronic absenteeism”
Schools in Englandmissing 10% or more of sessions (half days) is “persistent absence”

If you are short of attendance

  • Act early: every week left in the term is classes that can still pull the percentage up.
  • Attend everything for a while – the What if table shows how fast the figure climbs.
  • Get approved medical, sports or duty leave on record now, with documents; it is much harder afterwards.
  • Ask how condonation works at your college: who decides, how far below the minimum is allowed, and the deadline.
  • Watch each subject, not just the overall figure – one short subject can stop you sitting its exam.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate my attendance percentage?

Divide the classes you attended by the classes held and multiply by 100. For example, 42 classes attended out of 56 held is 42 ÷ 56 × 100 = 75%.

How many classes can I miss and still have 75%?

Divide the classes you have attended by 0.75 and subtract the classes held so far, then round down. With 45 of 50, that is 45 ÷ 0.75 − 50 = 10 classes. Enter your numbers above to get yours.

How many classes do I need to attend to reach 75%?

Use (0.75 × held − attended) ÷ 0.25, rounded up. With 30 of 50 (60%), you need (37.5 − 30) ÷ 0.25 = 30 classes in a row, which takes you to 60 of 80 = 75%.

Does medical leave count as attendance?

It depends on your institution. Many colleges add approved duty or on-duty (OD) leave to attendance, and some count medical leave or allow it when deciding condonation. Enter such classes under Leave counted as present only if your college counts them.

Is the 75% rule per subject or overall?

Often both: many universities require the minimum in each subject and overall, and a strong overall figure can hide one subject that is short. Use the Subjects tab to see every subject against the minimum.

What if I can’t reach 75% this term?

The calculator tells you when even attending every remaining class is not enough. Speak to your teacher or department straight away about medical or duty leave and condonation – most rules allow some relaxation only with documents and before a deadline.

Are my numbers saved?

Yes, in this browser on this device, so they are there next time. Nothing is sent anywhere, and you can clear them at any time.
