QR Code Scanner

Point your camera at a QR code, or drop a photo or screenshot, and see exactly what it contains before you open it — links checked for warning signs, UPI payee details, Wi-Fi passwords and contacts.

Runs in your browser Free · no sign-up

At a glance

  • Scans with your camera (phone or laptop) or from an image or screenshot — drop a file or paste with Ctrl+V; several codes in one image are all read.
  • Shows what a code does before you act: links with warnings (http, IP addresses, look-alike domains, shorteners, app downloads), UPI payee and amount, Wi-Fi name and password, contacts, events, email, SMS and locations.
  • Saves contacts (.vcf) and events (.ics), copies Wi-Fi passwords and UPI IDs, and opens links only when you click.
  • Reads QR codes, Micro QR and rMQR, including inverted (light-on-dark) and rotated codes.
  • Keeps a list of everything scanned this session, which you can copy or download as CSV.
  • Decoding uses ZXing in WebAssembly on your device — camera frames and images are never uploaded or recorded.

Features

Everything you need, nothing you don’t

Scan on a laptop

Got a QR code in an email, PDF or screenshot? Paste or drop the image — no phone needed.

Check before you pay

UPI codes show the payee’s name, UPI ID and amount, with a reminder that you never scan a code to receive money.

Safer links

See the real website first, with warnings for unencrypted pages, shorteners, look-alike addresses and app downloads.

Wi-Fi in a tap

Read the network name and password from a Wi-Fi QR code and copy the password.

Many codes at once

Keep scanning to read a stack of codes, then copy them all or export a CSV.

Private

Nothing is uploaded or recorded. The camera turns off when you stop or leave the page.

Staying safe with QR codes

A QR code is just text, so anyone can print one — scammers stick fake codes over real ones on parking meters, posters and shop counters. Always check the website address before entering passwords or card details, and be careful with links from shorteners or bare IP addresses.

For UPI payments, check that the name your UPI app shows matches who you want to pay. You never need to scan a QR code or enter your UPI PIN to receive money — that’s a common fraud.

If a code won’t scan

Move closer so the code fills most of the frame, hold steady, and add light — on phones, tap Light for the torch. For images, use a sharp, straight photo or a screenshot rather than a photo of a screen.

Need to make a code instead? Use the QR Code Generator. For product barcodes, use the Barcode Scanner.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How do I scan a QR code on my laptop?

Open this page, click Start camera and hold the code up to your webcam — or take a screenshot of the code and paste it with Ctrl+V.

Can I scan a QR code from an image or screenshot?

Yes. Choose Image or screenshot, then drop the file or paste it. Every code in the image is read.

Is it safe to scan unknown QR codes?

Scanning here is safe — nothing opens until you click. The scanner shows the real destination and warns about common tricks, but always check the address before entering passwords or paying.

Why isn’t the camera working?

Your browser may have blocked camera access for this site — allow it in the site settings — or another app may be using the camera. You can always scan a photo instead.

Are the camera images saved or uploaded?

No. Frames are decoded on your device and discarded immediately; nothing is recorded or sent anywhere.

Does it read UPI and Wi-Fi QR codes?

Yes. UPI codes show the payee, UPI ID and amount; Wi-Fi codes show the network name, security type and password.
