Indian land measurement units

Land is still measured in local units in much of India. This converter uses these sizes: 1 guntha = 1,089 sq ft (Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana), 1 cent = 435.6 sq ft (1/100 acre, used in South India), 1 ground = 2,400 sq ft (Tamil Nadu), 1 marla = 272.25 sq ft and 1 kanal = 20 marla = 5,445 sq ft (Punjab, Haryana), and 1 gaj = 1 sq yard = 9 sq ft.

The bigha and katha differ from state to state, and even between districts. The converter uses the West Bengal and Assam sizes (1 bigha = 14,400 sq ft, 1 katha = 720 sq ft) — check the local value with your land records office before a sale.

How do I convert Celsius to Fahrenheit?

How many square feet are in a guntha, acre or bigha?

A guntha is 1,089 sq ft and an acre is 43,560 sq ft (40 guntha). A bigha differs by state; in West Bengal and Assam it is 14,400 sq ft.

What is the difference between GB and GiB?

A gigabyte (GB) is 1,000,000,000 bytes; a gibibyte (GiB) is 1,073,741,824 bytes (1024³). Drive makers use GB, while Windows shows sizes in GiB but labels them “GB” — which is why a 1 TB drive appears as about 931 GB.

How do I convert lakh and crore to million?

1 lakh = 100,000 and 1 crore = 10 million, so 10 lakh = 1 million and 100 crore = 1 billion. Choose the “Lakh & crore” category.

What does an AC “ton” mean?

It measures cooling power: 1 ton of refrigeration = 12,000 BTU per hour ≈ 3.517 kW of cooling. A 1.5 ton AC removes about 5.3 kW of heat — it is not its electricity use.
