How the deductions are calculated

DeductionRule used
Provident fund (PF)12% of Basic + DA; with the wage ceiling, on at most ₹15,000 (₹1,800 a month)
Employer PFAnother 12%: 8.33% to the pension scheme (on up to ₹15,000) and the rest to PF
ESI (employee)0.75% of gross pay when the monthly gross is ₹21,000 or less, rounded up to the rupee
ESI (employer)3.25% of gross pay on the same condition
Professional taxSet by each state, up to ₹2,500 a year — enter your state’s amount
TDSIncome tax deducted at source, as worked out for the employee’s regime

Loss of pay

When an employee is paid for fewer days than the month has, each earning is reduced in proportion: earned = monthly amount × paid days ÷ days in the month. For example, ₹45,000 Basic with 27 of 30 days paid gives ₹40,500. PF and ESI are then worked out on the reduced pay.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is this salary slip generator free?

Yes — free, without sign-up or watermark, for as many employees and months as you like.

How is PF calculated on a payslip?

The employee contributes 12% of Basic + DA. Most employers apply it on wages of at most ₹15,000, which caps it at ₹1,800 a month; switch the ceiling off to use the full Basic.

When is ESI deducted?

When the employee’s gross pay is ₹21,000 a month or less. The employee pays 0.75% and the employer 3.25%, both rounded up to the next rupee.

Is a computer-generated payslip valid?

Yes. Payslips from payroll software are routinely accepted without a signature; the PDF says it is computer-generated. Some banks or landlords may ask for a stamped copy or a salary certificate.

Where is my data stored?

Only in this browser. Download a backup file to keep the details or move them to another computer.
