WhatsApp Chat Analyzer

Find out who texts the most, when your chat is busiest, your favourite emojis and who replies fastest. Open a WhatsApp chat export and get the stats in seconds — the chat never leaves your device.

Runs in your browser Free · no sign-up

At a glance

  • Reads the chat you export from WhatsApp — the .txt file, or the .zip from an iPhone — in 12- or 24-hour and day/month or month/day date formats.
  • Counts messages, words, media, emojis, links and deleted messages, in total and for each participant, in one-to-one and group chats.
  • Finds the busiest day, longest streak, longest silence and most active hour and weekday, with charts and a weekly heatmap.
  • Shows who starts conversations (the first message after 6+ hours of silence) and each person’s median reply time.
  • Top emojis (skin tones and flags counted correctly), most used words without common English and Hinglish filler, and the most shared websites.
  • System messages — joins, group changes and the encryption notice — are left out of every count.
  • Runs entirely in your browser: the chat is never uploaded, stored or seen by anyone.

Features

Everything you need, nothing you don’t

Private by design

Chats are personal. The analysis runs on your device, so no server, no account and no one else ever sees your messages.

Who talks the most

Each person’s share of messages, words, media and emojis, plus who starts conversations and who replies fastest.

When you chat

Messages per day or month, by hour and by weekday, and a heatmap of your weekly rhythm.

Emojis and words

Your favourite emojis and most used words, with filler like “the”, “hai” and “ok” filtered out.

Android and iPhone

Understands both export formats, 12- and 24-hour clocks and different date orders — and opens an iPhone .zip without unzipping.

Shareable summary

Copy a short summary of the highlights to post in the group.

How to export a WhatsApp chat

  • Android: open the chat → tap ⋮ → More → Export chat → Without media, then save the .txt file.
  • iPhone: open the chat → tap the contact or group name → Export Chat → Without Media, then Save to Files. Open the .zip here as it is.
  • “Without media” is faster and smaller. Photos, videos and voice notes are still counted from the placeholders in the text.
  • WhatsApp may limit very long chats in an export; the analysis covers everything in the file.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is it safe to upload my WhatsApp chat?

Nothing is uploaded. The file is read by your own browser and analysed on your device, so your messages never reach a server — not even ours.

Does it work for group chats?

Yes. Groups of any size are supported. The table shows the 12 most active people first, and you can expand it to see everyone.

Which file should I choose?

The file WhatsApp creates when you use Export chat: a .txt on Android, or a .zip on iPhone. There’s no need to unzip it.

Why does it say “media (type not recorded)”?

Android exports without media replace every attachment with “<Media omitted>”, so the type can’t be known. iPhone exports say whether it was an image, video, audio or sticker.

The dates look wrong. What should I do?

Some exports could be day/month or month/day. The analyzer works it out from the order of the messages; if it can’t be sure, a switch appears at the top so you can pick the right one.

Does it work with Hindi and other languages?

Yes. Messages in any language — Hindi, Hinglish, Tamil or anything else — are counted and analysed. If WhatsApp itself is set to another language, a few labels like “media omitted” may be counted as ordinary messages.

How is reply time calculated?

Each time someone replies to a different person within the same conversation, the gap is recorded. The table shows the median, so one late reply doesn’t skew it.
