Printable ID Card Maker

Design an ID card with photo, logo and QR code or barcode, preview the front and back at true size, then print one card or a whole class or company from a spreadsheet — as a sharp PDF for sheets of paper or PVC card printers.

Runs in your browser Free · no sign-up

At a glance

  • Cards are drawn at the standard ID card size, 85.6 × 54 mm (ISO/IEC 7810 ID-1, called CR80 by card printers), with its 3.18 mm rounded corners; 4 × 3 inch event badges, A6 passes and custom sizes are available too.
  • Templates for employees, students, visitors, event passes and members, each with its own fields — and every label can be renamed, added or removed.
  • Four layouts (colour band, side stripe, header bar, photo panel) in portrait or landscape, any colours, your logo, and a photo you can zoom and position, framed square, rounded or round.
  • A QR code (card number, a verification link such as https://example.com/verify/{id}, or a vCard contact) or a Code 128 barcode (checked to scan back with the ZXing barcode reader).
  • Front and back: terms of use, return address, emergency contact and a signature image on the back.
  • Bulk cards from Excel, Google Sheets or CSV: columns are matched by heading, and photos are matched by file name, card number or name — up to 500 people at a time.
  • Prints as a vector PDF — 10 cards per A4 sheet (8 or 9 on US Letter) with cut marks and backs mirrored for double-sided printing — or one card-sized page per side for PVC card printers.
  • Everything runs in your browser: photos and lists never leave your device. Hindi and other Devanagari names print correctly.

Step by step

How to make an ID card

  1. 1

    Choose a template

Employee, Student, Visitor, Event pass or Membership — it sets the title and fields.

  2. 2

    Add the details

Upload a photo (zoom and move it to frame the face), then fill in the name and fields.

  3. 3

    Design it

Pick a layout, colours, logo and photo shape; rename or add fields. Set the QR code or barcode and the back side.

  4. 4

    Many cards? Import a list

Under Many cards, paste rows from Excel or open a CSV, then add the photos — they are matched by file name, card number or name.

  5. 5

    Download and print

Download one card as PDF or PNG, or Print PDF for sheets of paper or a card printer. Print at 100% (actual size).

Features

Everything you need, nothing you don’t

Looks right before you print

The preview is the real PDF drawn at true size, front and back, so what you see is exactly what prints.

A whole school or company in one go

Paste rows from a spreadsheet or open a CSV, add the photos, and get every card — named by heading, matched by file name.

Codes that scan

QR codes and Code 128 barcodes are drawn as vectors for crisp printing, and the tool warns when a code is too dense or thin for its size.

Paper or card printer

Sheets with cut marks for home and office printers — backs placed for long-edge or short-edge duplex — or card-size pages for direct-to-card PVC printers.

Your brand

Logo, colours, card title, tagline and field labels are yours to set, and stay saved in your browser for the next batch.

Private by design

No upload, no account. Photos and personal details stay on your device; nothing is sent to a server.

ID card sizes

Most ID card holders and lanyard sleeves are made for CR80 cards, so start there unless your holders say otherwise.

Printing on paper

  • Print at 100% / Actual size. “Fit to page” shrinks the cards slightly, so they no longer fit standard holders.
  • For double-sided cards, print the front sheet, then the back sheet on the other side. Most printers flip on the long edge; if your backs come out upside down, choose “flip on short edge” instead.
  • Thick paper or card stock (250–300 gsm) gives the best result; then laminate the cards and cut along the marks.
  • Do a test on plain paper first and hold it up to the light to check that fronts and backs line up.

Printing on PVC cards

Direct-to-card PVC printers print through a printer driver set to the card size. Choose Card printer (one per page): the PDF then has one card-sized page per side — front, back, next front — which the driver prints in order (set it to double-sided for backs).

Card printers cannot print right to the edge on every model; keep important text a few millimetres in from the border, as the layouts here already do.

Bulk cards from a spreadsheet

Put one person per row with a heading row on top: Name, the line under the name (Designation, Class…), each field label and Photo. Download the sample CSV to see the exact headings for your template. Headings such as Dept, DOB, Mobile or Blood are understood too.

Name each photo after the person’s card number (EMP-1042.jpg) or name (Priya Sharma.jpg), or type its file name in the Photo column, then add all the photos at once.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What size is a standard ID card?

85.6 × 54 mm (3.375 × 2.125 in) — the ISO/IEC 7810 ID-1 size, also called CR80, the same as a credit card. It has rounded corners of about 3.2 mm.

How many ID cards fit on an A4 sheet?

Ten landscape cards (2 × 5) or nine portrait cards (3 × 3), leaving a 6 mm margin that most printers need. US Letter takes eight landscape or nine portrait cards.

Can I make ID cards for a whole class or company at once?

Yes. Paste rows from Excel or Google Sheets, or open a CSV, and add the photos. Up to 500 people go into one print PDF.

What can the QR code contain?

The card number, a link or text with placeholders such as https://example.com/verify/{id}, or a vCard contact with name, organisation, title, phone and website. A barcode (Code 128) can hold the card number or short text.

Will it work with my PVC card printer?

Choose “Card printer (one per page)”: every page is exactly card size, which is what card printer drivers expect. Print a single test card first to check alignment.

Are the photos and details uploaded anywhere?

No. The cards are made in your browser. The design and the single card you edit are saved on this device so they are there next time; imported lists and photos are kept only while the tab is open.

Can I put a signature on the card?

Yes, on the back: upload a photo of the signature (on white paper, cropped close) and set the signatory’s title.

Does it support Hindi names?

Yes — names and fields in Devanagari are drawn with a font that covers it, with the vowel signs in the right places.
