Crop Image

Crop photos to exactly the part you want — freehand, to a fixed ratio or to an exact pixel size for Instagram, YouTube and more — and rotate, flip or straighten them on the way. Full quality, no upload.

Runs in your browser Free · no sign-up

At a glance

  • Crop freehand or to a fixed ratio — 1:1, 4:3, 3:2, 16:9, 4:5, 3:4, 2:3, 9:16, the photo’s own ratio or a custom one.
  • Ready-made sizes for Instagram (1080×1080, 1080×1350, stories 1080×1920), YouTube thumbnails (1280×720), X and LinkedIn headers, Facebook covers and profile pictures.
  • Type exact X, Y, width and height in pixels, and optionally resize the result to any width and height.
  • Rotate by 90°, flip, and straighten tilted photos by up to 45° — the crop automatically fits inside the photo so no empty corners show.
  • Circle crop for profile pictures, with a transparent background in PNG and WebP.
  • Saves at full resolution as JPG, PNG or WebP (HEIC opens too). The image is processed in your browser and never uploaded.

Cropping tips

  • Use the rule-of-thirds grid: place eyes, horizons and key details on the lines rather than dead centre.
  • Leave a little space in the direction a person is looking or moving.
  • Crop before resizing — cropping a large original keeps more detail than cropping a small copy.
  • For profile pictures, centre the face in a square crop: most apps show it as a circle.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How do I crop an image to a specific size?

Pick a ratio, then type the width and height under Resize to — or choose a social media size, which sets both. The crop box keeps the right shape while you move it.

Does cropping reduce quality?

No. The crop is cut from the original pixels at full resolution. Quality only changes if you resize the result or save as JPG/WebP — use quality 90 or higher, or PNG, to keep it pristine.

How do I crop an image into a circle?

Choose Circle under Shape. The square crop becomes a circle with a transparent outside when you save as PNG or WebP.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. Cropping happens entirely in your browser, so the photo never leaves your device.

Can I straighten a crooked photo?

Yes. Drag the Straighten slider until the horizon is level; the crop shrinks automatically so no empty corners appear.

Which format should I download?

JPG for photos (smallest files), PNG for screenshots, graphics and transparent circles, and WebP for websites. Original keeps JPG, PNG and WebP in their own format; HEIC and other formats are saved as WebP (or JPG).
