GSTIN, PAN & Aadhaar Validator

Catch typos in GST numbers, PANs, Aadhaar, IFSC codes and more — one at a time or a whole list from Excel.

Runs in your browser Free · no sign-up

At a glance

  • Checks GSTINs fully: the state code, the PAN inside, the registration number and the check character — the last character catches almost every typo.
  • Checks Aadhaar numbers and Virtual IDs with the Verhoeff check digit, and shows the number masked.
  • Explains PAN (holder type: person, company, HUF, firm…), CIN (listed or not, state, year, company type), TAN, IFSC (which bank) and UPI IDs (which app).
  • Also checks mobile numbers, PIN codes, vehicle numbers (including BH series), passport and voter ID numbers.
  • Bulk mode: paste a column of up to 5,000 numbers from Excel, see which are wrong, and download the results as CSV.
  • Runs entirely in your browser — numbers are never uploaded or saved.

Step by step

How to check a GST number

  1. 1

    Paste the GSTIN

Type or paste the 15-character GST number. The type is detected automatically.

  2. 2

    Read the result

A valid format shows the state, the PAN and each part of the number; a typo shows exactly what is wrong.

  3. 3

    Check many at once

Switch to Many at once and paste a column from your vendor list or invoice register.

  4. 4

    Confirm it is active

For a supplier, use the GST portal’s Search Taxpayer to see the legal name and status.

Valid format is not the same as genuine

A correct check digit proves the number has no typing mistake — not that it was issued to anyone, or is still active. Anyone can make up a number that passes. Before paying a supplier or accepting a document, confirm it with the issuing authority: the GST portal for GSTINs, the Income Tax e-filing portal for PANs, UIDAI for Aadhaar and MCA for companies. Never share someone’s full Aadhaar number without need; use the masked form.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How do I check if a GST number is valid?

Paste it above. The tool checks the 15-character format, the state code and the check character, which catches nearly all typos. To see the business name and whether the registration is active, use Search Taxpayer on the GST portal.

Can it tell me whose PAN or Aadhaar this is?

No. Names are held only by the Income Tax Department and UIDAI, and this tool never contacts them. It checks the format and explains what the characters mean.

Is it safe to enter Aadhaar numbers here?

The check runs entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded, stored or logged — and the result is shown masked. Still, share Aadhaar numbers only when you have to.

What is the Verhoeff algorithm?

A check-digit formula that detects every single-digit mistake and every swap of two neighbouring digits. The last digit of an Aadhaar number is a Verhoeff check digit.

Can I validate a whole list from Excel?

Yes. Choose Many at once, paste the column, and download the results as CSV with the reason for every invalid number.

Does a PAN have a check digit?

Yes, the last letter — but the Income Tax Department has not published the formula, so only the format and the holder-type letter can be checked.
